Report:Pentagon estimates doubling of US casualties with “surge”.

If Condi Rice lied to Congress about this, she has got to go. Impeached. Gone. Monday. if not yesterday.

And if she didn’t know about it, and if it’s true, she should be fired for making up the stuff she said.

Pentagon planners this week warned President George W. Bush that his “troop surge” plan could double U.S. casualties in Iraq in the coming year and result in 10,000 or more American deaths by the end of 2008. (with more than 100,000 wounded and/or maimed for life.) In a classified assessment memo, military experts predicted violence against U.S. troops will increase “at a sustained pace” and concluded that increasing the use of soldiers for house to house searches in Baghdad will “dramatically alter” the “ratio of casualties to actions” in that civil-war torn city, says a military source familiar with the memo.

In an appearance before the Senate Armed Services committee Thursday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice refused to provide an estimate of U.S. casualties, saying such estimates are not possible but the Pentagon assessment had been delivered to the White House on Tuesday, two days before her testimony.

Military planners, as a matter of course, prepare casualty estimates as part of any action.

Senators from both sides of the aisle told Rice they did not believe her testimony, saying too many Bush administration officials have lied to Congress too many times.

Sounds like somebody in the military is blowing the whistle on the lying; and well they should. Our kids are gonna die, with this projected house to house fighting. I hope that Webb or someone will get some better answers on this.
Not to mention the fact that the authors of the surge idea think that this puny effort will fail.

She should have been gone a loooong, long time ago. But then, her boss should have been too.

The brazen attitude of the Bush Administration never ceases to amaze me.

I predicted in 1999 that Bush would be disaster as President – I was proven to be correct.

I now predict Bush will blame the loss of thousands of US troops Iraq to everyone except himself and his administration.

    Wake up, sheeple!!!

It is not a surprise that Condi lied to the Senate. She’s done it before, and there were no consequences. I sincerely hope the “new” Senate will call her on her lies.

  4. Condi spent the past day or so in Israel assuring Israeli leaders that even though the American people have disapproval, and only disapproval for the war, that our country and this Administration will continue in Iraq.

Her comments are not appropriate in a democracy. An oligarchy perhaps, but not in a democracy.

Impeach all of these immoral and inept Administration officials now.

Of course Condi doesn’t know the casualty figures. The whole enterprise is a huge gamble. It could backfire in such a way that it makes the pentagon figure look like a drastic underestimate. I expect the plan to involve an attempt at sealing off the most violently sectarian neighbourhoods from each other. Also, house to house raids to confiscate arms and imprison alleged militants without trial. They will then draw in the few reliable Iraqi police and military units that exist, and also use Kurdish militias, to patrol the interfaces. Basically turning cities into a patchwork of sealed ghettoes.
Sounds plausible until you consider the probability that quieter neighbourhoods and cities elsewhere in Iraq will erupt at seeing their co-religionists oppressed. The Iraqi security forces are themselves sectarian and may even join in attacks on the coalition. The previously placid Kurds are brought into the conflict. And the Brits, already desperate to cut and run, try to abandon the escalating conflict before their withdrawal is experienced as an even more humiliating defeat.

  6. A formidable share, I simply given this onto a colleague
who was doing a little bit analysis on this. And he the truth is purchased me breakfast because I discovered it for him..

smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the deal with!
However yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I
really feel strongly about it and love reading
extra on this topic. If attainable, as you turn out to be experience, would you mind updating your weblog with extra particulars?

  7. Thanks for the different tips discussed on this blog. I have realized that many insurance firms offer shoppers generous
special discounts if they choose to insure many cars together.

A significant number of households possess several autos these days, specifically
those with more mature teenage kids still located at home, and the savings
in policies may soon begin. So it is good to look for a bargain.

  8. The core of your writing whilst sounding reasonable
originally, did not work perfectly with me after some time.

Someplace within the sentences you were able to make me a believer unfortunately just
for a very short while. I however have a problem with your leaps in logic and
you might do nicely to fill in all those gaps.
If you can accomplish that, I would definitely be fascinated.
