The semantics of stopping a war

Glenn Greenwald has an important piece today on Bush’s rhetorical victory, that resulted in the passage of the war supplemental without any teeth.   LSS: If the timetable bill had been titled “A bill to fund our troops returning home from Iraq,” it might have passed; but the Democrats have allowed or even encouraged the idea that it was “A bill to cut off support to our kids in the trenches.”

One great advantage of an authoritarian mindset, like what exists in the Republican Party, is that they can get their message out there.  The Democratic Party just doesn’t do that very well.
