The legal issues in the firings of the US attorneys

If you want to get past the usual mindless denials (”Bush can whatever he wants” and “Clinton did it”–neither of which is true) read this piece on the potential crimes being looked at: NY Times op piece today.

If, however, you are stuck on the mindless denials, go to Glenn Greenwald today, to figure out the…

… fundamental difference between (a) a new administration replacing all U.S. attorneys (as multiple Presidents have done — including Clinton, Reagan and even Bush 41) and (b) cherry-picking ones for firing in the middle of an administration, has been amply documented. Alberto Gonzales’ own Chief of Staff recognized the unprecedented nature of what they were planning in an email he wrote to the White House.

  • Thanks, great link.

I would add here that the bedeviling thing about mindless denials is that by their nature they don’t yield to or even recognize rational discussion. Explanations that compel reasonable people to think have no effect on mindless idiots. The Times editorial will be dismissed by these fools as a predictable liberal screed produced by the cult of America haters… not that you don’t already know this. I just felt like venting for a moment.
