what CAN we eat?

Kraft Foods has expanded a nationwide recall of its Oscar Mayer, Louis Rich chicken breast strips and cuts.

The recall now includes all code dates, sizes and flavors of the product…

The first recall occurred after the Georgia Department of Agriculture said they found listeria in a sample of the product. Kraft Foods said it has had no reports of the bacteria and no other findings of listeria in its product.
For more information you can contact the Kraft Foods consumer hotline at 1-800-308-1841.

What the hell is Listeria?
It’s a lesser known bacteria than the bad E. coli we hear so much about. But Listeria is definitely a killer, and outbreaks occur periodically, particularly in high risk populations: the very young, the old, the chronically ill, and particularly in the pregnant woman, who can transmit it to the fetus. People who fall in these categories should not eat cold cuts without cooking them (microwave is not adequate) and should avoid soft cheese like feta, Brie and Camembert, as well as unpasteurized milk.
